Store History

In 1966 Pat & Tony Pippin began as proprietors of their first general store in Hanover called The Oak Hill store. In 1969 they moved down the street to a store built just for them and opened ‘Pat & Tony’s General Store’, which was situated across from the 10th tee of the Hanover Country Club.

Customers ranged from the former presidents of Dartmouth College, John Kemeny and Jim Wright, to the head of the Hanover Improvement Society, Tom Byrne. Local friends and families, students, politicians and beloved members of the Hanover fire and police department were consistent characters in the store.

Owned and operated by Pat & Tony Pippin since 1987, the Lyme Country Store has the same friendly and welcoming atmosphere that started over 50 years ago.
